1 John 5:11,12

And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.  He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life 

He who has the Son has life
- this is he who has repented of their sin and asked Jesus to save them.

He who does not have the Son of God does not have life
- this is he who has never repented of their sin, never acknowleded that Jesus died for their sin and has never asked Jesus to forgive them.
